550 exhibitors showcased cutting-edge products and services across 7 halls at the Shanghai New International Exhibition Centre (SNIEC); featuring unique zones devoted to the industry’s advances in devices, IoT, AI and automotive technology.

Bringing the SDGs to Life

For 2018, the GSMA has partnered with Barcelona artists, Brosmind, to illustrate the unique role mobile is playing in supporting the United Nations SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals). Each character created a visual representation of the mobile industry impact in supporting the goals and how we can create a #betterfuture together.

Showing Our Character

To celebrate and commemorate our partnership with local Barcelona artists, Brosmind, and to encourage attendees to show their personal support for the SDGs – #MWC18 showcased larger than life 3D versions of the 17 SDG characters, as they greeted attendees, and roamed through the corridors of N5.

Introducing the New Leaders Stage

New for 2018, The Leaders Stage provided a new platform to hear from and engage with speakers on pressing topics and industry trends; allowing attendees to get up-close and personal with industry leaders as they shared their vision for how mobile is creating a better future.

Showcasing the Future of Innovation

GSMA Innovation City featured immersive demonstrations of the cutting-edge mobile enabled products and services in the world today. Visitors experienced how mobile-connected products and services are creating a better future for citizens and businesses around the world, in diverse areas such as home, automotive, health, agriculture, utilities, industrial and more.

NEXTech in Hall W5 put the spotlight on disruptive technologies from virtual reality/augmented reality and robotics, to cognitive computing, artificial intelligence, graphene and more.

Championing Industry Diversity

The Women4Tech programme debuted at #MWC18, as it continues to provide a global platform for attendees focused on reducing the gender gap and championing diversity in the mobile industry. This year’s programme included speech coaching, networking events, workshops. The programme culminated with the Women4Tech Summit featuring the Women4Tech AMO Award.

Sharing Knowledge & Expertise

Over three days, the MWC Shanghai conference programme delved into topics such as 5G, artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things, content and media, drones, blockchain, policy and regulation, and many others. The keynote sessions featured leaders from established players and industry upstarts, as well government agencies and the development community in Asia.

Honoring Excellence in Innovation

AMOs (Asia Mobile Awards) were awarded, recognizing revolutionary advances in technology for 2018; across 7 categories for achievements in mobile innovation. Winners were honored for everything from best content and devices, to mobile innovations for connected living, commerce, and social good.

Introducing Next Generation Mobile Leaders

The 4YFN Startup Event showcased more than 130 exhibitors introducing the next generation of innovators who will shape the future of mobile. Attendees to 4YFN were offered unique connecting initiatives, such as custom networking activities, inspirational talks, technical abilities workshops, community outreach and the startups & investors summit.

Meanwhile, Partner Programmes attendees had the opportunity to engage with some of the top organisations in the industry. Each programme was developed and presented by thought leaders in mobile innovation with topics including industry insights, company solutions, product launches, demonstrations, case studies and workshops.

Celebrating Fitness for All

The Migu Health & Fitness Festival featured a three-day exhibition full of interactive demonstrations showcasing mobile devices, immersive experiences, innovative technologies and entertainment. Jolin Tsai also made a grand entrance on the last day of the event, leaving attendees star-struck.
